A Prayer for humility

Eastern Towhee
It can take a long time to gain even a little wisdom, but I will keep seeking it through prayer and patiently wait on God. Someday I'll die, and I have to believe I will leave behind more than a legacy of selfishness, vanity, and a stack of bird drawings.

Clothe me in wisdom, Heavenly Father. Correct me when I go off course and humble me daily. Like a carpenter planes a rough board, strip away my arrogance and conceit, revealing something clean and useful beneath the surface. That is my prayer today: Discard the old man's clothes and dress me in garments of wisdom, humility, kindness, and compassion for others.

You have a plan and a purpose for me, and I had better not get in the way of it. Use me as you will, Lord. May I be your humble servant.
